Hong Kong Red Cross Headquarters

A fast easy installation for an 11-storey building’s green roof

Challenge

The new 11-storey Hong Kong Red Cross (HKRC) Headquarters is located in West Kowloon. The integrated complex includes offices, a blood collection centre, first aid and emergency response facilities, and training facilities.

Designed by P&T Architects & Engineers, the building symbolises the journey and accomplishments of the HKRC since its 1950 founding.

KeyTech was commissioned to develop a green roof to reflect the caring ethos of the NGO and enhance the visual appeal of the building.

Solution

KeyTech worked closely with the architect to specify and supply the Elmich MEP® Tray for the project. These modular and interlocking green roof trays are quick and easy to install.

The highly durable trays help the building blend in better with the nearby Olympian Park and green spaces.

As the building is located in a largely high-rise residential area, the roof has a spillover effect greening the neighbourhood.

Successful completion

KeyTech’s low-maintenance, visually appealing solution enhances the neighbourhood with a sustainable element.

The green roof improves the building’s appearance, and the views from nearby high-rise buildings, adding to the overall aesthetic of the area.
